ORBIT allows retirees to update personal information such as: 

  • Physical and mailing address 
  • Primary phone number and mobile phone numbers 
  • Personal email address 
  • Correspondence delivery preference
  • Maintain username and password 
  • Maintain security questions

  1. Log in to ORBIT  
  2. Click “Maintain Personal Information” in the left navigation

To change your home or mobile phone number:

  1. Log in to ORBIT  
  2. Click on “Maintain Personal Information”  
  3. Press edit and make changes

To change your email address:

The Retirement Systems Division requires a personal email address so that you are able to receive important notifications, including security verifications, password and username changes, account edits or updates, correspondence and other information.

If you currently use a personal email address to access ORBIT, no action is required.

If you are using a work email address to access ORBIT, it is important that you change it to your personal email address as soon as possible.

Using your work email can cause the following issues or delays:

  • If you retire or leave employment, you will not have access to retirement notifications
  • If your place of work changes their email address, (.com to a .org or .net), you will not be able to receive notifications
  • If your place of work has strong firewalls or doesn’t have the Retirement Systems Division listed on their safe list, you will not receive notifications

The easiest and most efficient way to update your mailing address is through your secure ORBIT account.

  1. Log in to ORBIT  
  2. Click on “Maintain Personal Information”  
  3. Press edit and make changes under Maintain Address

Security features are in place when you make changes to your personal information.

Be sure to advise the Retirement Systems Division whenever your mailing address changes. Even with direct deposit of your monthly retirement payment, it is still necessary that you keep the Retirement System informed at all times of your current mailing address.  

Important documents and information may be mailed to you several times each year. If we do not have your current address on file, you will not receive material you need on a timely basis.

As a retiree or benefit recipient, you may also fill out a Change of Address form (Form COA) and mail it to the Retirement Systems Division at 3200 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27604.  

Making an update or change on the “Maintain Personal Information” page on ORBIT does not automatically update across benefit accounts.

NC 401(k) and NC 457 Plans 
Login to myNCPlans.com or contact the Call Center at (866) 627-5267. 

You now have the option to update your correspondence delivery preference to email delivery. 

This change supports faster, more secure, and more efficient communication.

You can view or update your delivery preference at any time by selecting Maintain Personal Information in the left navigation menu of your ORBIT account.
 
Email continues to be the standard method for timely and secure communication, and this update helps ensure you receive important information with efficiency and security in mind.
 

NCRS correspondence is sent as a secure, encrypted message and requires members to log in and create a password to view documents.
